C.A.R.E. Vice President Nomination Resumes Due September 1, 2018

Posted By Bonnie Kosco, Tuesday, August 7, 2018

Since C.A.R.E. now has one conference each year, the previous election nomination process of taking nominations from the floor at the fall conference for elections at the spring conference has been changed. The C.A.R.E. By-Laws do not address any specific process for accepting nominations to the Board.  As a result, the current Board Members have implemented a new procedure for accepting future nominations for the offices of the C.A.R.E. Board.  The new process is simple and easy and is as follows:

1.      To be nominated, you must be the Authorized Member Representative (voting party) of a C.A.R.E. General Member in good      standing.

2.      Nominees must have passed the Accreditation Level One Test.

3.      Prospective Board Members should submit no more than a 350-word resume along with a picture by September 1, 2018 to  C.A.R.E. Secretary, Debora Sansom, for the Board to review and place on the C.A.R.E. website.

4.      Nominees should plan on addressing the membership at the 2019 Indianapolis, Indiana conference during the election  process.

Two (2) Vice Presidents (for three-year terms) will be elected at the 2019 C.A.R.E. Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Board of Directors are volunteers and should be committed to dedicating one to two hours per week of their time to C.A.R.E.  Board Members should also plan on attending the annual conference, 1st Quarter Board Meeting and teleconferences.  For additional information regarding participation as a C.A.R.E. Board member, contact Linda Mayhugh (lmayhugh@care-online.org/800-636-5646 ext. 700).

Nomination resumes should be submitted to C.A.R.E. Secretary, Debora Sansom:

C.A.R.E. Joins Global Secondary Market Coalition

Posted By Bonnie Kosco, Wednesday, March 28, 2018

Harrisonburg, VA-March 2018 - The Cooperative Association of Resort Exchangers (C.A.R.E.) is proud to announce that is has joined the Global Secondary Market Coalition (GSMC) launched by the Association of Vacation Owners (AVO) earlier this year.

The GSMC is as a multi-national alliance of industry stakeholders that are engaged in creating best practices, reviewing current licensing requirements and establishing a code of ethical and responsible conduct for secondary market service providers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

With increasing complaints, continuing scrutiny by regulatory agencies and an ongoing need to maintain public trust, the AVO is encouraging leaders in the timeshare community to participate in the GSMC.  C.A.R.E. member companies (and their customers) are being affected daily with secondary market activity and/or participating in it directly.  C.A.R.E.’s Mission Statement is, “To promote ethical and outstanding vacation services by providing education and networking opportunities”.  Therefore C.A.R.E.’s Board of Directors felt it was imperative to the association’s mission to get involved as a stakeholder in this initiative.  Read More
